Back to School?

Today was supposed to be Leah's and Lincoln's first day back at school for the year... but they both woke up with pink eye, so that plan was nixed.

Instead, we packed up our lunches and headed to the "dinosaur" museum.

We had the place to ourselves since classes at the university haven't started yet and everyone else was in school - so we looked at all the favorites

and found a sweet docent who patiently taught us all about fossils and answered many questions... and then Eli pulled the fire alarm.

Apparently, the museum wasn't exciting enough for him and he felt the need to add a few police officers and firemen to the mix. I offered to let them take him into custody, but they weren't sure they had the resources to handle my little wild man - I know the feeling!

Luckily, they let him off with a warning and we were able to enjoy a nice picnic before heading home for a well-earned nap :)

Happy New Year!

We were lucky enough to ring in the new year with some of my family.
We spent New Year's Eve at a Mersiovsky family reunion up in Walburg and afterwards Brent, Emily, Lisa, and Erich came down to our house to play games and drink tea into the wee hours of the morning...
Lisa and Erich even made a traditional Swiss bread (at 2 in the morning) for us to enjoy for breakfast. Our church now starts at 2pm, so we had a yummy lunch of black-eyed peas and cornbread before heading off to church and said goodbye to Brent and Emily since they had to get back to Houston.

Monday morning dawned bright and beautiful, so we were able to convince Lisa and Erich to stick around for a little hiking
up Mt. Bonnell and through the Mayfield Preserve before they had to head home as well.

Thanks everyone for getting our new year off to such a great start!
