Easter

We decided to spend Easter Weekend down in Houston this year so Andrew and I could go to the temple - and so we could spend some time playing games with family!

It's always so fun to watch the little ones hunt for eggs

Conference Weekend

Something about Priesthood session makes Andrew want to bring me flowers... I love it!

The best way to keep kids quiet -
If I plan ahead, we can get a good hour of listening time out of this activity!

Dallas and Waco

Andrew had a meeting in Dallas on Monday - which makes logistics a bit sticky for a one car family. After much discussion, we decided to take the kids out of school for the day and make it a family trip. While Andrew was in his meetings, the kids and I took a little field trip to the Dallas Nature & Science Museum where we...

learned to milk a cow,

dug for dinosaur bones,

rode the tractor at the farm,

and said hello to Triceratops!

By then it was time for lunch so we went back to pick up Andrew and had a little picnic before heading home. We also had to make a little detour on the way - since the route from Dallas to Austin passes right through Waco, we couldn't pass up a chance to visit one of our favorite zoos - the Cameron Park Zoo!

Sliding with the otters

Checking out the tepees and bison

Swinging like the orangutangs

We were having so much fun that we actually stayed past closing time!
Finally, it was time to head for home after a very busy day!

Puppet Show

With the big kids in school and Eli still taking a good 2-3 hour nap in the middle of the day, Peter and I are able to enjoy some quality together time. We play games, read stories, color, and sometimes just do our own thing. But if I'm really lucky, I sometimes get treated to a puppet show.

The Dino Museum

Lately, Peter's favorite place to go during the day is the "Dinosaur Museum" - aka the Texas Memorial Museum up on campus. It's a fairly small, very kid friendly natural science museum and is often very empty so I don't have to worry about the kids being loud.

This sabertooth tiger is out in front and is the first item of interest. You can hear Eli growling - this is what he does all through the museum, every time we see a dinosaur or other animal.

Then we get to try out all the microscopes and look at cool models of cells and native Texas wildlife... and finally we get to the dinosaurs!
